According to Karen Greenburg, a leading American national security expert, “After 9/11 we reached out to the Israelis on many fronts and one of those fronts was torture. The training in Iraq and Afghanistan on torture was Israeli training. There’s been a huge downside to taking our cue from the Israelis and now we’re going to spread that into the fabric of everyday American life? It’s counter-terrorism creep. And it’s exactly what you could have predicted would have happened.”
Israel recently sent their Yamam, a counter terrorism force known for crushing peaceful Palestinian protests with brutal force, to train America’s law enforcement officials. Avi Dichter, one of the top Israeli advisors to America, is the former head of Israel’s internal security service and is known for proudly ordering the bombings of densely populated civilian towns in Gaza. In 2006, FBI directer Robert Mueller has called Dichter his mentor in anti-terrorism after Dichter gave a speech to top American law enforcement officials in which he claimed that American criminals were crimiterrorists. This rhetoric was reminiscent of the anti-drug war media campaign, which blamed drug users for funding terrorists. The obvious logical flaw in this argument is that the criminalization of the drugs is what causes the high profits that fund these terrorists, but that was lost on American policy makers. The Israelis demonstrated brutal crowd control techniques to policemen in one such training mission called Operation Shield in California. Shortly thereafter, the Oakland police force used those tactics on Occupy Oakland protesters which left dozens injured and one Iraq war veteran in critical condition. The mainstream media of course refused to report on the Israeli presence at Operation Shield.
Before Janet Napolitano, the Homeland Security Director, visited the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and declared that, “the bond between America and Israel has never been stronger” she signed a joint Memorandum with the Israeli government, which established a physical presence of the Homeland Security Department in Israel. Kind of ironic that a Homeland Security Department would have a physical presence in another country.
In Miami, a former Israeli Defense Force commander, who now runs the Bryant security company, volunteered to help the Miami police department crush the Occupy Miami protests. This might seem like a joke if it weren’t for their close ties with the Miami police department and the likelihood that the private security firm will be out there cracking heads Gaza style in the near future. Max Blumenthal reports that Israeli security officials have already been hired to run the security at American airports and shopping malls, which has led to a wave of racial profilings of innocent Muslim Americans.
Local police are now getting military grade weaponry in anticipation of more protests and general unrest. In fact, the Pentagon has given local police forces $500 million worth of military equipment in 2011. One such weapon, the LRAD sound cannon, can blast a person’s cranium with enough decibels to shake his skull. Israel has already tested this weapon on Palestinians in the West Bank. The LAPD is now flying Apache helicopters in Los Angeles and the Pentagon has committed to spend billions on spy drones to be used on American soil.
The intent and actual words of many of the Founding Fathers was to have a citizenry with equal weaponry to the government to keep it in check. It is hard to find the section in the Constitution that allows a foreign nation to instruct our politicians on what legislation they should pass, how to monitor our citizens in airports or shopping malls, or to instruct our police officers on how to crush peaceful protests with brutal force
